Mini pies
Whoever thought making pies could be so easy? It actually is, and I didn't even know until last Wednesday.
The ingredients you will need are:
300g of PLAIN flour
150g of block margarine or butter
12 teaspoons of water
Tin of filling (e.g mince)
Firstly, you are going to put 300g of plain flour in to the bowl and then add 150g of the block margarine or butter. Now, the tricky part is you have to rub the mixture together with your hands until they start to look like crumbs!
As your rubbing this together you will see how the mixture is very dry! This is we're you will add 12 teaspoons of water into the mixture! Make sure you add them in slowly and not all at once!
Then you are going to roll the mixture into a ball and start rolling into a long thin dough on your surface! Make sure you have put flour down to stop the mixture sticking to your surface!
You are then going to use pastry cutters to cut out small circles and gently press them into a cake tray. Then add your filling, I used mince! I would suggest that you use approximately a tablespoon of filling for each pie! Then to finish I used a star-shaped pastry cutter and put it on top to be very festive considering it's nearly christmas!
You can usually make about 6-8 mini pies depending on how much you roll out your dough! Cook your pies for about 15-20 minutes. They will look golden brown when they are ready.
Enjoy baking
